Been a long time

Sorry it's been so long...I just can't seem to catch up. These are the 3 dolls that are in the newest issue of Prims. Humpty Dumpty and the rabbit were created using an egg shaped body and are in the article "The Egg Came First"

Uncle Sam is a very patriotic soul. I live less than a mile from a country bicycle trail created on an old railroad line. It connect to Wisconsin state bicycle trails so it seemed fitting that Sam should be riding a bicycle. All 3 are cloth dolls. Sam has a wire armature inside his body.

Rebecca is just adorable. She's large, 29" tall, with BIG 7" long feet with needle sculpted toes. Those cheeks are soft and squishy textured fabric.

Primitive rabbit Hiram Hare is a 29" tall rabbit made from a vintage wool blanket. His corduroy pants used to be a corduroy shirt. I've just listed him in my ETSY SHOP where you'll find more photos that show just how special he is. His eyes are applique'd, painted and have button iris/pupil stitched in place. I also added a painted highlight dot.  The nose is a small triangle shaped pillow of light brown ultrasuede detailed with painted shading and hightlight. He comes with the fabric carrot shown in the photo.

New Large Primitive Black Wool Rabbit

Robert is a large 35 inch tall rabbit made of fabric recycled from a black wool winter coat. His wool hat was formerly a blazer and the pants were a pair of women's pants. Oh yes, the buttons are from a coat. He sits 21 inches high.
     The fabrics are all clean and he's stuffed with mostly polyester fiberfill but there's fabric trimming in his butt to help him sit so nicely.
   His eyes are painted cotton hand stitched in place. I painted the edges and used brown pastels to shade the inner edge of his eye. I stitched a button in the middle

Fall is here...scarecrows are here too

    I've been very busy finishing new scarecrows. You can find them on my website . They are listed under What's new and come in 3 sizes: 18" tall, 26" tall and 35" tall. They're made of fabric with rag stuffed bodies so they sit well. They all have a generous quantity of raffia spilling from sleeves and pant legs as well as raffia hair. The handmade hats are stiffened burlap. The pants are denim.
    The faces are hand embroidered with hand applique'd noses and blushed cheeks. Each scarecrow has something to hold. One has a handmade painted fabric pumpkin, another has a handmade cloth crow and the large one captured a huge handmade crow that's trying to fly away. They're designed to be indoor decorations (or at least in a sheltered area) but I've heard from customers who've kept them outdoors and not protected and they are just fine (I don't advise that...I'm just passing along what I've been told).

The scarecrows are coming

 Scarecrows are being listed as quickly as I can make them. These are so cute. 18" tall and made of fabric with lots of lovely shredded raffia, they have embroidered features. The scarecrow on the left is all muslin with orange blushed cheeks and a handmade crow. The one on the right has a head made from a fabric that looks like miniature burlap and holds a handmade pumpkin with a real stem. They are available on my website, Lucy's Lazy Dayz Primitives. I've finally finished the pattern for Colin Creep. This is a wonderful 10" jack o'lantern with 15" vine arms. His fingers are wired and can be twisted and bent to help him hold things. You'll find him available as either epattern or mailed paper pattern on Lucy's Lazy Dayz Primitives.

If you click on the WHAT'S NEW button in the left column, you'll find a couple more new patterns and new finished dolls.

New Spring listing - Seamus Finnegan w shillelagh

    I listed this gentleman rabbit last night. He's made of muslin and button jointed. He has button eyes and string whiskers and there is a "cottontail" on his back side.
    He's wearing a lined black and tan wool blend vest. There are brass safety pins holding the front closed and there's a gold tone "watch chain" draped across his chest. Seamus is too poor to afford a watch so he fastened his door key to the the chain.
     Seamus is a very Irish rabbit with his shillelagh. I made the walking stick from a piece of tree root I discovered after a neighbor had some trees uprooted. It was so gnarly and interesting I had to carry it home. It's perfect here. I scrubbed it, sealed and stained it. It's actually sewn to his hand and the toe of his foot and makes it possible for him to stand all by himself as you can see.

New listings at Lemonpoppyseeds

I've listed a new Snowman lamp, a Santa and several snowmen at Lemon Poppyseeds. The snowman lamp is unique. I found the lamp at a tag sale....it was meant to be a patio lamp burning oil. I converted it and it now has a LED candle that uses 2 AA batteries and requires no cord.
   The snowman is handmade and he's actually stitched to the lamp. The top of the lamp lifts off to turn the candle on.

New Primitive Santa at Lucy's Lazy Dayz Primitives

These wonderful primitive Santa dolls are available at Lucy's Lazy Dayz Primitives. The bottom of their bodies is rag stuffed which gives them weight so they sit very well. They are a Lucy's Lazy Dayz Primitives design completely handmade, signed, and dated by Lucy.

New Santa make dos

These beautiful Santas are Make-dos. I made them on spindles from a tiered wooden table. They have nice plump bodies under their clothing and stand on a nice 4" diameter wooden base. Primitive black angel w star

This is the latest addition to my website. Meet HOPE. She's made of heavily textured fabric and the painting and sanding make her skin look like old leather. She's made to hang but sits so nicely. I love her cheesecloth over wire wings. They're the perfect touch. Notice they're not too big? That's because she's a new angel..they'll grow a little every time she gives hope to people.

Folk Art Father's Day rooster with egg cart pull toy

Isn't this the cutest? The little cart is hand made from a grapevine basket. I removed the handle and inserted an axle with wooden wheels. The egg is wood and it's nestled in dried grass. Available at http://www.LucysLazyDayzFolkArt.etsy.com

My sister, Sandra, now has printable feed sack designs available on her Etsy site, SandrasBohemianBags.  Each one is a PDF, is $4.50, and comes in 4 sizes plus reverse images for iron ons in each packet.

There is no watermark on what you purchase and there is no "designed by" or "copyrighted by" to spoil the effect of the vintage logo.

Who can resist this face? And that hair!? I've just listed this little cutie on my website . You can choose her, the cat or both.

Rootie Tootie (the doll) is made of muslin and hand embroidered with vintage rayon cord hair stitched in place. The pull toy cat is also handmade by me. He has a mouse dangling from his tail and reproduction vintage thread spool wheels. As always, shipping is FREE.

New Little Humpty Dumpty

 I've been busy sewing as you can see from the little Humpty Dumpty I've just listed on my website . He's 12" long but sits only 6" high with 6" off dangling leg. He's made of muslin and is soft sculpted and stained and painted. His pants are wool and the shirt and tie are cotton fabric. I'm showing you the doll I just finished but he's also available as a pattern, either mailed or emailed. The pattern includes his larger brother who's 2" larger and phone or email support if you need help.

As well as this great new doll, I've added several raggedies, a couple of prairie dolls as well as needle felted sheep in the past week. The sheep are something new and I'm really proud of them. They're needle felted on a body made from recycled wool and they're so soft to the touch.

If you've been disappointed that your favorite pattern is not available as an epattern , contact me and ask for it--I'll get to it sooner rather than later.  I'm trying to make epatterns available for all of them. but it's taking  a little longer than expected.

Shelley Jean and her pull toy chenille sheep

I finished dressing this adorable little girl last night and when I was taking her photo I realized that this sheep pull toy is just the right size to belong with her. so, I listed her on my website and discovered a way to offer a discount if you purchase both at the same time.She's listed here.  Her sheep is made from a vintage chenille bedspread and I constructed the base myself from wood, wooden wheels, and screws.

I have so much fun designing and making my dolls but I must admit I enjoy posing them for photos just as much if not more.

Primitive Folkart Chickens

I've been having so much fun creating new things. These primitive chickens made of osnaburg are the latest. My friend has one similar to the black chicken and before I'd finished painting her, I had ideas for a half dozen different chicken designs. I'm going to make roosters soon too. I've listed these on my website  at   Lucy's Lazy Dayz Primitives. There are new pull toy critters and dolls as well.
